We designed and built a proprietary scheduling solution that will enable a leading healthcare staffing firm to lead the industry in time-to-fill open shifts; contributing to millions of dollars of gain across the organization.

Design Challenge
Eliminate the need for a separate scheduling function at AMN.
Enable account managers and recruiters to quickly build optimized schedules that improve fill rates and decrease the risk of double booking in cross job scenarios.

PROJECT & CLIENT MANAGEMENT
Short-term and long-term goal setting and progress communication via weekly status calls.
EMPATHY BUILDING
Interviews and observations with Account Managers, Recruiters, and Company Leaders to deeply understand end-user needs.
SYNTHESIS - JOURNEY MAPPING
Creation of a variety of synthesis (sense-making) artifacts, including a scheduling journey map to identify opportunities for design.
DESIGN PILLARS
Generation of high-level design values that directed the evaluation of ideas, based on empathy for the work and challenges of end users.
DESIGN PATTERN GATHERING
Gathered relevant interaction design patterns across current market leaders in scheduling, recruitment pipeline management, templates, and more to support ideation.
SKETCHING & IDEATION
Created low fidelity sketches that could be critiqued by the internal design time to evolve them prior to testing with stakeholders.
RAPID PROTOTYPING
Initial conceptual walkthroughs with clients based on combinations of improved sketches and goal narratives.
WIREFRAMING
14 rounds of wireframing with combinations of internal critique and external end user testing via paper prototyping and Invision clickable prototypes.
DEVELOPMENT QA PLANNING
Project planning via Asana to ensure efficient development support and design iteration.
BUILD QA
Communication process to ensure functional, UX, and visual bugs were identified and fixed prior to core releases.
EVALUATIVE TESTING - DISCUSSION GUIDE GENERATION
Generation of discussion guides to evaluate core end-user workflows for deficiencies in clickable prototypes and live builds.
CONTEXTUAL TESTS
Ensuring designs and workflows were compatible with actual hardware and software used by end users.
HIGH FIDELITY DESIGN DIRECTION
Collaboration with visual designers through the transition to high fidelity comps and prototypes.
GO LIVE TRAINING & SUPPORT
Designed and led go-live training, provided onsite support to end users, documented issues, and collaborated with the development team to generate backlog tickets for bugs and improvement requests.
